The idea to build the Arabian Gulf University was based on the belief in the importance of university and higher level education in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) society. This would be the start of satisfying the needs of GCC countries in terms of specialists and experts in various occupational fields connected to society.
After studying the cultural, social, and economic situation in the GCC region, the challenges it faces, the shared historical background was also examined. It was found that united aspirations towards a brighter future, one of which was to create a melded co-existence, of mentality and of advancement in knowledge for members of the society at large to promote the area and growth in its various sectors.
With this in mind, the General Convention of Arab Education for the GCC at its fourth meeting was held in Bahrain on the 4th of Jumada al-Oola, 1399 A.H, corresponding to the 3rd and 4th of April, 1979, the convention and it was decided to establish the Arabian Gulf University to be located in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The Arabian Gulf University looks forward to undertaking its role as a regional Gulf university in addressing the developmental issues of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries through its innovative and effective educational and research programs with relevance to Arabian Gulf regional issues and aspires to gain an eminent international reputation.
The Arabian Gulf University aims to be an exemplary regional Gulf university striving to focus its efforts on fundamental regional issues of the Gulf Cooperation Council in health, human development, environment, science and technology and aims to contribute effectively to spreading the culture of knowledge and education in Arabian Gulf society.
College of Graduate Studies
Admission Requirements
- The applicant must be a citizen of the Gulf Cooperation Council Countries and nominated by the relevant Ministry of Education or Ministry of Higher Education in their respective countries.
- An Arab national residing in one of the GCC Countries may apply directly and according to a certain percentage may be admitted to the seats of the fees.
- The applicant must meet all requirements of chosen programs and pass a personal interview & any Admission examinations.
- The applicant must submit a completed application form and all supporting documents.
- The applicant must pay a non-refundable application fee of BD100.
- The applicant must pay all tuition fees if admitted on self-pay seat prior of commencing study.
- The applicant must submit a certificate of good conduct from previous School or University.
- The applicant must be fit.
Programs Specific Admission Requirements
1. Diploma of Graduate Studies Programs:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor of Science Degree with a minimum grade of good from a recognized University.
- Passing the personal interview.
2. Master of Science Degree Programs:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor of Science Degree with a minimum grade of Very good from a recognized University.
- Passing the personal interview.
3. Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) Degree Programs::
- The applicant must hold a Master of Science degree with a minimum grade of 3 out of 4 accumulative average from a recognized University.
- English Language Competency in IELTS (5.0) or TOEFL (450) exams.
- Passing the personal interview.
- The applicant submit a preliminary Research Proposal.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

UNDERGRADUATE MEDICAL PROGRAM
Degree of Doctor of Medicine (MD):
- The applicant must hold a High School Certificate in Science major with overall average not less than 95% or 3.75 GPA out of four scale.
- The high school Certificate should be of the current year or the prior year and endorsed by the respective Ministry of Education.
- The applicant age should not exceed 20 years old at the start of the academic year.
GRADUATE MEDICAL PROGRAM
Diploma in Graduate Studies and Master of Science degree programs:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor degree in (Science, Medicine, Nursing or Medical Sciences) with Good standing in case of Diploma programs & Very Good standing in case of the Master of Science programs.
- Working experience of two to three years.
- English Language Competency in IELTS (5.0) or TOEFL (450) exams.
- Passing the personal interview.
Doctor of Philosophy in Molecular Medicine:
- The applicant has Master of Science degree of minimum 3 out of 4 accumulative average from a recognized University.
- English Language Competency in IELTS (5.0) or TOEFL (450) exams.
- Passing the personal interview.
- The applicant submit a preliminary Research Proposal.

MBA ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
MBA Admission Requirements for all Tracks
- A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (4 point system), and at least three years of experience in a management position.
- Certified copies of degree certificates and transcripts.
- Proficiency in English Language ( TOEFL IbT 50 / IELTS 5.5)
- Completed application form.
- Updated version of candidate’s CV with full details of current position.
- An essay showing motivation and career goals.
- Two letters of recommendation from previous and/or current employers.
- There is a non-refundable application fee of BD 100.
MBA GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
Graduation will be obtained under the following conditions:
- Students should successfully complete 40 credit hours.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 points out of 4.0 is required, including the consulting project.
Students who have a grade of “C” in one or more courses, and choose to improve their GPA, may be allowed to repeat these courses with the next batch. Students obtaining a D or F in any of the courses MUST repeat the course (with the following batch) and fulfill the above conditions for graduation.
A student who misses a module and/or the module examination for a legitimate and verifiable reason may be allowed to repeat the same module and /or sit the same module examination with the next/following batch of students. This may delay his/her graduation.
Legitimate and verifiable reasons for absence may include:
- Medical emergency (a medical certificate from a recognized medical center will be required)
- Travel disruption (a report from a relevant authority will be required)
- Bereavement of close family
All other reasons for absenteeism will be regarded as unacceptable and the student will be expected to pay the full tuition fee for the repeat module/ missed examination and score the required grades in order to graduate.
The fee set for each repeat module/credit is BD 350

Transportation
In cooperation with the University's General Services Department, a free transportation service provided for students with air-conditioned buses, which commute regularly throughout the day between the residential units and the university. A free transfer service provided for international students to and from Bahrain International Airport, when departing or returning to the campus in advance coordination with the housing supervisors.
