The British University of Bahrain is one of the newest Universities to be established in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Working in partnership with the University of Salford-Manchester, we bring to Bahrain British degrees from one of the UK’s leading universities.
Bahrain students can now commence and study an Undergraduate UK Bachelors degree or Postgraduate UK Masters degree, exclusively on our state-of-the-art University campus, here in Bahrain.
Students also have a unique option to transfer their course studies to the University of Salford, in Manchester, at the start of any of their subsequent academic years.
Finally, your degree and degree certificate will be proudly awarded by the University of Salford, both of which are fully recognised by the Higher Education Council-HEC of Bahrain.
BUB Admissions
Applications | Bachelor Degree Courses
All of the Bachelor degree courses at the British University of Bahrain are UK degree courses, awarded by the University of Salford-Manchester. All of our courses are Approved by the Higher Education Council-HEC in the Kingdom of Bahrain. In addition, our Foundation Year course is approved by UK NARIC, for direct entry to most UK Universities.
To be considered for entry to BUB, all applicants must have completed a high school education or the equivalent of 12 years of schooling. The application of each student is individually evaluated. This is based upon the information provided on your application form and your academic achievement.
Application to the British University of Bahrain, to commence your UK Bachelor degree course, is a very competitive process. We therefore recommend that you submit your BUB application as soon as possible to secure your place.
You will be required to support your application by providing the following original documents or proof of your pending results:
1 – High School Transcripts | Typically Grades for Years 9-12
2 – Statement of Graduation or Secondary School General Certificate
3 – IELTS Certificate | Overall 5.5 or equivalent with No Component Below 5.0
4 – Copy of the Picture Page from your Passport
5 – Copy of Your CPR
6 – A Recent Photograph | High-Resolution with a White Background
7 – Medical Report from a Public Health Centre or any Approved Health Institution
8 – Ministry of Education Letter of Equalization | Private Schools Only

BUB Entry Requirements
College of Business
An overall GPA of 75% or equivalent.
IELTS score of 5.5 and above overall or equivalent with no element less than 5.0.
College of Engineering and the Built Environment
An overall GPA of 75% or equivalent with a minimum score of 75% in High School Mathematics or a math based science subject.
IELTS Overall score of 5.5 and above or equivalent with no element less than 5.0.
College of Information and Communications Technology
An overall GPA of 75% or equivalent with a minimum score of 75% in High School Mathematics or a math based science subject.
IELTS Overall score of 5.5 and above overall or equivalent with no element less than 5.0.
BUB Foundation Year | UK NARIC Approved
The British University of Bahrain offers entry to applicants that have not yet met the minimum entry requirements for English Language proficiency. Students have the opportunity to undertake the BUB Foundation Certificate with Intensive English. This will enhance your English language skills. On successful completion of our UK NARIC Approved Foundation Certificate, you will have attained an English Language proficiency equivalent to IELTS 6.0. You are then eligible to progress to your preferred Bachelors degree course with Advanced Standing | Year 2 entry. Alternatively, you can apply for direct entry to most UK Universities.
BUB Foundation Certificate | Entry Requirements
An overall GPA of 75% or equivalent.
A Minimum IELTS score of 4.5 overall or equivalent with no element below 4.0.
BUB Advanced Entry
If you have followed the curriculum identified below and have completed 13 years of schooling, you may be eligible for entry with advanced standing, for year 2 entry, to your Bachelor degree programme. The English Language requirements for Year 2 entry is IELTS 6.0 or equivalent with no element below 5.5.
Please Note – Our Engineering programmes have specific entry requirements for Math that must be demonstrated by fulfilling the A-Level Math or Math based science subject grade. Applicants that do not have the required level of Mathematics will be invited to undertake a Mathematics based entrance test.
Entry Requirements | Advanced Entry Admission
A-Level – Typically a minimum of 3 subjects contributing to the required UCAS points needed for BUB entry. Minimum A-Level points for entry are indicated in the individual course details – Course List
Please Note – 3 Passes at A2 are required for Advanced Entry. AS Level subjects may be used to calculate the overall points if they are additional to your A2 subjects.
International Baccalaureate Certificate – Minimum IB scores for BUB entry can also be found in the individual course details – Course List and must include a minimum number of HL subjects.
CBSE
Successful Completion of a Foundation Year – From a recognised Higher Education institution.

English Language Proficiency | BUB
All courses at the British University of Bahrain are taught and assessed in English. To ensure that you have the opportunity to successful complete in your studies, English language proficiency is required for admission to BUB. English language proficiency can be demonstrated by any of the following tests with the minimum specified grade for entry achieved:

We are excited to announce that the British University of Bahrain, has now launched the BA (Hons) in Graphic Design.
This new UK Degree is also awarded by the University of Salford-Manchester. Like all the degree courses at BUB, Bahrain students will follow exactly the same curriculum as the students at Salford’s Manchester campus.
BA (Hons) Graphic Design (International)
Our new Graphic Design course equips students with all the necessary skills to find solutions, to increasingly complex challenges, in the field of visual communication.
Students have the opportunity to engage with a wide range of creative processes, including both digital and traditional design methods. This course encourages the development of a broad range of specialist skills in areas such as typography, branding, illustration and image making. Also, information design, signage and wayfinding, art direction, exhibition design, editorial design, service design, front-end web design, user experience and user interface design.
The BA Graphic Design course has been developed in close collaboration with industry. Further to this, extensive industry links mean that on graduation, students are ready to begin successful and fulfilling careers at the leading edge of the graphic design industry.
