KALABHAVAN (“the abode of art”) is glorious institution in Kerala contributing to the advancement of artistic dimensions, and  an institution absolutely familiar to all art lovers in Kerala and Malayalees all over the world.
Kalabhavan was founded by late Fr.Abel , a dedicated Christian missionary who dedicated his whole life for the advancement of the society and finding and nourishing the artistic talents in the children.
KALABHAVAN is multi-dimensional cultural academy established in at Cochin the commercial capital of Kerala state in India. The base musical instruments like Guitar, Tabla, Violin, and Harmonium were taught in a harmonious cacophony at affordable fees. The dedicated teachers attracted many students and many got their talents blossomed at KALABHAVAN
The names KALABHAVAN originate from two words “KALA” and “BHAVAN”. “KALA” means ART and “BHAVAN” means HOUSE and “KALABHAVAN” means HOUSE OF ARTS. 
KALABHAVAN was registered on 3rd September 1969.Padmasree K.J.Yesudas, iconic singer of the India and evergreen personality of Malayalam film songs for the last three decades, is a director of the academy.
Today KALABHAVAN has blossomed into multifarious institution. A recording studio, a digital and film studio, a residential school and a proposed institute for film and television are all the legacy of the visionary who set the trend.
The founder of KALABHAVAN is respected Rev.Fr.Dr.Abel C.M.I. KALABHAVANstarted with the teaching of musical instruments and training of traditional Indian Form of Performing Arts. After 10 years in 1980 KALABHAVAN was known as a famous reputed musical institute in India. They have got an approval from Ministry of Education of India to start educational school with I.C.S.E syllabus.

KALABHAVAN BAHRAIN has evolved from a highly respected academy of performing arts into a vibrant symbol of the living Indian tradition.
