RVIS was founded with the goal to Lead the Future of Learning while maintaining cultural ties to the country of Bahrain. This goal came with the belief that personalized learning in small group settings would propel students to have a deeper sense of identity and reach greater academic success.

RVIS has maintained clear values and beliefs since its founding, focusing on personalized education and innovation while maintaining a sense of culture and identity. During the 2017/18 school year, RVIS engaged students, parents and teachers to re-imagine the mission while staying true to our founding values.

Our revised mission was finalized alongside our belief that personalization is our core strength as a school. RVIS is intentionally small, which allows teachers to support student learning in an intentional way. Students are given opportunities to lead their own learning through personalized, collaborative unit development and passion projects.

Each one of these components is part of a larger mosaic that results in well-rounded students with a firm sense of identity, a strong academic foundation grounded in creativity and innovation and most importantly, happy people who will find success wherever they go.

The mission and hedgehog are closely aligned with the strategic goals, and our ultimate aim remains the same as it did upon our founding in 2008: to lead the future of learning by providing a personalized education focused on innovative pedagogies and community wellbeing.

EARLY CHILDHOOD
In Early Childhood (EC), learning happens in a developmentally appropriate way through a balance of teacher-guided experiences, student-initiated exploration, and purposeful play-based engagements.

CURRICULUM SUMMARY
The Nursery and PreK curriculum focuses on cognitive, language, physical and social-emotional development. It also includes foundational literacy and mathematical knowledge and skills.
In Kindergarten students continue to develop in all these areas and also start the core academic subjects.

ELEMENTARY
The RVIS Elementary School curriculum has been developed with a commitment to use the best educational practices from around the world. Every aspect of the curriculum has been carefully designed to be both developmentally appropriate and academically challenging; aligned with international curriculum standards for K-12 education.

In addition to providing a strong academic foundation for students, RVIS also provides a holistic, well-rounded learning experience in the context of a safe, supportive environment. RVIS takes pride in its innovative teaching practices. Through a wide-range of specialist classes and co-curricular activities, students at RVIS have the opportunity to explore the world outside of academia and develop skills essential to a successful, happy life.

MIDDLE SCHOOL
The middle school program offers a rigorous American curriculum designed to nurture independence while providing the necessary structure to ensure a successful 3 year experience. The highly-qualified and experienced teachers work hard to ensure that lessons are rigorous and engaging, while allowing for student-centered inquiry.

In addition, the advisory program cultivates students to thrive in the middle school environment, and develops their skills as local and global citizens. Moreover, students are given the chance to travel abroad to expand their learning and experience new cultures as well as help with community service internationally and locally.

HIGH SCHOOL
The RVIS High School expands upon the foundation laid by the middle school and culminates with the rigorous IB Diploma Program (DP). The 9th and 10th grade curriculum overtly prepares students for the DP, ensuring that students are well positioned to find success. Through a strong advisory program, students develop a strong and coherent sense of self which will prepare them for university and success.
