The BSB provides an excellent educational programme for children who fall within the mainstream spectrum. Within this spectrum, we recognise that every child has his or her own particular learning profile and range of talents and abilities and we endeavour to meet a wide range of individual learning needs in the delivery of our curriculum through a variety of differentiation strategies.

We require a good level of English proficiency for admission to the BSB and we do not currently provide any programmes to teach students for whom English is an additional language who are at an early stage of acquiring English.

It is our intention to develop our facilities and capacity to support students with special learning needs in the future but, at our present stage of development, we have only limited resources to cater for students whose learning needs require significant support and, for this reason, we not admit students with specific learning needs that fall outside the mainstream spectrum. It is not in the best interests of anyone, and least of all of the student involved, if he or she is not able to benefit from the educational programme we offer and to thrive within the academically high achieving environment at the BSB.

BSB curriculum is based on the National Curriculum of England and Wales which we adapt to our local setting from time to time. There is a rigorous focus on children learning to communicate, read, write and understand mathematical concepts in the infant years. Learning is enhanced with engaging topic work and “themed” days which are held regularly.

An outstanding school where students come first. We achieve excellence Through doing as well as knowing. Through constantly challenging ourselves to do better. Through our determination to succeed. Through our perseverance in the face of challenge and through our enjoyment of learning.

The curriculum in juniors is based on Key Stage 2 of the UK National Curriculum, adapted to an international educational environment. We recognise our host country and we incorporate the history, culture and geography of the Kingdom of Bahrain into our programme. All children from Reception to Year 6 are taught Arabic. Arab nationals have Arabic lessons as directed by the Ministry of Education.

We value and promote a lifelong love of learning; our students are highly motivated and eager to make progress. Children are encouraged to be proactive with their own learning both in class and at home, whilst technology is used to enhance understanding and creativity whenever possible. Links are frequently created between subjects, leading to a vibrant and lively learning experience for every child. Educational visits and trips form an important part of the all-round student experience at the BSB, as do our themed study days such as Ancient Greek day and Shakespeare day.
