History and Achievements

The International School of Choueifat – Manama first opened its doors in 2006 to students Pre-KG to Grade 8. Today, the school has an enrollment of approximately 1,700 students in KG 1 to Grade 12.

ISC-Manama is a member of the global SABIS® Network, established in 1886 with the opening of its first school.  For over 130 years, schools in the SABIS® Network have been preparing students with the knowledge and skills required to help them achieve success in a changing world. Today, the SABIS® Network has an active presence in 20 countries on five continents and educates over 70,000 students.

Mission Statement

The International School of Choueifat-Manama will be recognized as a provider of top-quality education to a highly diverse student body.  ISC-Manama will strive to help all students achieve their full potential, prepare them for success in college, equip them with the ability and desire for lifelong learning, and strengthen their civic, ethical and moral values. ISC-Manama will maintain high standards of efficiency and accountability throughout its operation.

Campus Facilities

ISC-Manama is situated on the prestigious, purpose-built island of Amwaj just off the island access causeway. Reclaimed from the crystal clear waters off the north coast of Muharraq Island, Bahrain, the Amwaj Islands are a group of man-made islands. Through their unifying architectural theme, smart city environment, fast road network, and medical, educational, and entertainment facilities, the Amwaj Islands have created a new standard of living for Bahrain.

ISC-Manama is located on a purpose-built campus that encompasses 80,000 square meters.  The state-of-the-art facilities will include science and computer laboratories, a performance hall, and extensive sports facilities such as a semi-Olympic-sized pool, an indoor basketball / tennis court, an Olympic-sized soccer field, and an athletic track. The school also boasts a cutting-edge computerized testing and learning center, which facilitates the ongoing assessment and monitoring of student learning.

The Kindergarten (KG) Department in the school is an independent unit with its own indoor swimming pool, a multipurpose indoor court, and a special KG car track

Admission Policy

Applicants for admission to ISC-Manama are invited to send a request for more information to: iscmanama@sabis.net.

Non-Selective Admission Policy

The SABIS® Educational System is highly academically-oriented without being highly selective. The criterion for acceptance in a class is academic attainment, not age. Although age acts as a limiting factor, it is possible to find a three-year age range in the same class. In general, any student willing to learn is accepted.

Placement Overview

There are no academic requirements for acceptance into Kindergarten (3 to 5 years of age). Prospective students at these levels are interviewed; they must be toilet-trained and able to speak and follow simple instructions.

All other prospective students take diagnostic tests in the core subjects. These tests help to determine if the students have attained the minimum expected standard for each subject. The school then makes final placement decisions but can resort to the various strategies at its disposal to help bring a student to the required level. For example, there is the option of attending summer school or perhaps extra classes in a subject. Special academic support is taken very seriously by the school.

Application Process

The admission process is intended to be personal and informative for all prospective families.

In an effort to facilitate all operations, and in line with the decision from the U.A.E. Authorities preventing parents from visiting school premises, we have put in place the below procedure to assist you in completing the registration process online, which includes testing and payments.

Application and Required Documents

There is no application deadline, but it is recommended that the admission process be initiated early on. Applications are accepted on a space available basis throughout the school year. Please note that there is a 'joining fee' due to initiate the admission process and cover administrative costs.

Along with the student online application form, you will be asked to provide us with certain documents.

  • Copy of student’s and parents’ passports
  • Copy of student’s and parents’ Valid Residency
  • Student Passport photographs with white background
  • Copy of student’s Citizen Population Register (CPR )
  • Copy of birth certificate
  • Copy of vaccination record
  • Recent school report from previous school

Testing

  • Students applying to KG 1 to Grade 2 will sit for an online interview via video conference as part of the admission process.
  • Students applying to grades 3 and up will sit for online diagnostic tests as part of the admission process. Upon completion, the diagnostic tests are marked and a decision upon placement is made by the school.
  • Appointments for interviews and diagnostic testing will be communicated with parents after a complete online application is submitted.

Admission Decisions

Admission decisions are made after careful evaluation of the candidates. Results of diagnostic testing and previous school records are considered on a case-by-case basis. Additional criteria for admission include motivation, social and emotional development, willingness to work hard, and the ability of ISC-Manama to accommodate the needs of the candidate.

Once accepted, required fees will be processed via online bank transfers. When proof of payment is shared with the school a place for the student is reserved.
